01
Acceptance
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Cassandra Kim ("ReadBank," "we," "us") governing your use of the ReadBank app. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
02
Who can use ReadBank
ReadBank accounts are created and owned by parents or legal guardians ("parent," "you") who are at least 18 years old. Children use the app only through a profile their parent creates inside the parent's own account — a child never creates their own account, and these Terms are not directed at or intended to be agreed to by a child directly.
By creating a child profile, you represent that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, or otherwise authorized to consent on their behalf.
03
Accounts & children
- You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of any information you enter for a child profile (name, age, grade, reading level).
- You may delete any child profile, or your entire account, at any time from inside the app. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what deletion does.
- ReadBank's exit-PIN and Kid Mode features are a convenience to help keep a child inside their own profile — they are not a security or parental-control guarantee, and you're responsible for supervising your child's device use.
04
Subscriptions & billing
ReadBank offers a free plan and an optional auto-renewing Premium subscription (monthly or yearly), purchased through the Apple App Store.
- Price & term: current pricing and plan length are shown in the app before you purchase. New subscribers get their first month free; you won't be charged until that period ends.
- Payment: payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription automatically renews for the same length and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Managing or canceling: manage or cancel anytime in your device's Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, or from ReadBank's My Account screen. Canceling stops future renewals; you keep Premium through the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds: handled by Apple under its own refund policies — we don't process refunds directly.
- Changes to pricing: if we change subscription pricing, we won't change the price of a subscription you're already on without advance notice as required by Apple's guidelines and applicable law.
05
Content & conduct
Kids type short summaries and answers as part of the comprehension check. You agree that:
- This content should just describe what your child read — ReadBank isn't a general chat or social product, and content shouldn't include personal information beyond what the feature needs (e.g., no full names, addresses, or other identifying details typed into a summary).
- We may use this content to generate/grade comprehension questions (see Privacy Policy → AI & the comprehension check) and to display it back to the parent in the app.
- You won't attempt to misuse the app — e.g., interfering with its normal operation, attempting to access another family's data, or reverse-engineering the service.
06
Ownership
ReadBank, its design, mascot, and software are owned by Cassandra Kim and protected by intellectual-property law. We don't claim ownership of a child's written summaries/answers, but you grant us a license to use them as described above, solely to provide the app to you.
Book titles, cover art, and descriptions shown in the app come from public catalog data and the Google Books API and remain the property of their respective publishers/rightsholders; ReadBank doesn't claim ownership of any book content, and never reproduces a book's actual text within the app.
07
AI accuracy disclaimer
Comprehension questions and grading are generated by an AI system based on what your child tells us they read. Like any AI system, it can occasionally ask an oddly-phrased question or grade imperfectly. ReadBank includes a parent-review flow for exactly this reason — a parent can review and override a comprehension result. Screen-time rewards and XP based on an AI grade are a game mechanic, not a certified measure of your child's reading ability.
08
Disclaimers
ReadBank is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will always be accurate.
09
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ReadBank and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, and our total liability for any claim won't exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or $50 if you're on the free plan). standard placeholder — have counsel confirm this is enforceable in your jurisdiction
10
Termination
You may stop using ReadBank and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, misuses the service, or poses a risk to other users, with notice where reasonably possible.
11
Disputes & governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. arbitration clause, venue, and class-action-waiver language intentionally omitted — decide this with counsel
12
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use ReadBank after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
